Voting Republican
I'm intrigued by this interpretation, from psychology professor Jonathan Haidt, about why people vote Republican. Haidt points out that mostly liberal academic psychologists have concluded that "conservatism is a partially heritable personality trait that predisposes some people to be cognitively inflexible, fond of hierarchy, and inordinately afraid of uncertainty, change, and death." And then right when he is about to lose me, for seeming pat and condescending, he writes:

Looks like the Libertarian Party was right. The Story below is from Bob Barr's website. It links to the documents filed by the Democratic and Republican parties. The Democrats filing is notarized after the deadline, so it is obviously too late. The Republicans filing doesn't list both the presidential and vice presidential candidates as required by law. It is not notarized and it is a matter of public record that the party had not officially nominated their candidates by the deadline.

9/11 has had an effect on all of us but perhaps none more so than Uncle Sam. In this episode of SuperNews, we see a heart to heart discussion between them that was looooong overdue.

Let me preface this by recognizing how monumental it is to see a woman on a major party ticket (a la Ferraro/Mondale). If I set aside politics for a moment, I can admit I'm very proud to see a woman in the national spotlight who proves that "the fairer sex" does not have to choose between motherhood and her career. I respect that Palin has the gumption to defend her unwed daughter's pregnancy on national television; it shows me that she actually believes in her touted values (a rare disposition these days.)

But, feminist jaunt aside, let's get down to the brass tacks.

"How come God gets all the good followers, and we're left with the retards?" - The Violator, Spawn (1997)

I have to imagine that Barack Obama has to be asking him a similar question today. People, in general, lose major portions of brain function whenever the topic of politics comes to play. In this instance, it's particularly embarrassing for them.

Today, from The RAW story:

A McCain ad aired on Fox News channel with the words "HANG" in the background along with a photograph of Barack Obama has sparked outrage after being noticed by a reporter at a local Fox television affiliate.

In case you don't troll PerezHilton.com, here's the latest blasphemy committed by the blundering Golem that is MTV.

And in case you're too lazy to click on the link, here's the gist of it.

MTV is planning to remake the Rock Horror Picture Show with an indeterminate cast. And they want to add new music.

LIbertarian Candidate Wins Presidential Race in Texas - Or not (see update)

Normally, the World Domination Network does not try to call elections before all the ballots have been counted. This, however is different. Libertarian candidate Bob Barr has won Texas and it's 34 electoral votes in the 2008 election. I know, not one single ballot has been cast. It doesn't matter. He's running UNOPPOSED!

Now most people would argue - saying that that is completely ridiculous. After all, the Democrats crowned Obama as their nominee only hours ago and the Republican National Convention hasn't even started yet.
