If you're like me, you tend to think of politicians as mindless robots. It dosen't matter if you vote Republican or Democrat, you're still getting an asshole programmed to do whatever it takes to get reelected.

Now, there's a t-shirt that expresses this with pretty pictures. You can choose Republicon or Decepticrat - either one looks cool and makes a statement, but is ultimately useless just like the major political parties.

My friend came up with these designs and I'm proud of him. Hell, he might even get some people to wake up and make a few $$ doing it.

Forgot my fake birthday :(

I tried to sign on to Facebook using a relative's Internet connection today. Because it was a computer I don't normally use to sign in, Facebook decided my user name and password were not enough. I had to enter my date of birth. Unfortunately, to preserve my privacy and security, all the info I gave Facebook when I signed up was fake. I don't remember the fake birthday I gave them. I guess I can't use Facebook any more :(

Will Sovereign Debt Defaults Bring the End of Socialism?

Socialism has come to mean many different things to many people, but regardless how it is defined, in the months immediately ahead it will be put to a rigorous test. The test will be visible to everyone as countries around the globe run out of money and confront overwhelming debts that cannot be repaid as well as other wide-ranging financial promises that can no longer be met. In short, the ideological bankruptcy of socialism will be laid bare by government insolvency.

It should be abundantly clear by now that the clear facts of economics and history are not sufficient to prevent our government from embarking on another expensive, disastrous program. While the debate on government destruction of the health care industry continues in the senate, President Obama prepares to make a trip to Copenhagen.

I just launched a new site about electronic cigarettes or e-cigs. At the moment it is just a giant ad for Blu, but that will change over time. The site is called Vapor Journal, and will contain news and information about electronic cigarettes. I'll let you know when it does something more useful, but for now, check it out and learn why Blu is my favorite electronic cigarette:

Smoke for Less and Beat Smoking bans!

"For a habit that's disgusting and deadly, smoking is surprisingly satisfying."

-- Neal Stephenson, Cryptonomicon

Everyone knows that smoking is bad for you, yet millions of people continue to smoke. This is because quitting is very hard. Cigarettes are addictive. Also, most smokers actually enjoy smoking.

As a smoker I have tried quitting a couple of times. The results were less than pleasant. Also, it pisses me off that in a "free" country so many people think it is okay to ban things just because they don't like them. I now feel obligated to smoke as a political statement. Anyway, justifications and rationalizations are unimportant. I want to smoke, damn it.

Recently, the U.S. government released unemployment statistics showing an unemployment rate of 10.2%. That seems pretty bad, but things are actually much worse. That 10.2% doesn't include everyone. People who have given up looking for a job, no longer receive unemployment benefits or are working a part time job while looking for a better job are not counted. Read on to see how bad things actually are...

100 Years of Legal Tender

This year we will "celebrate" the birth of the modern legal tender laws. These laws gave governments that enacted them the power to print paper notes that had to be accepted in payment the same as a specific weight of gold or silver. They were a contributing factor in the outbreak of World War I and a root cause of the Great Depression and the current world financial crisis.

Here is an article on the topic by one of my favorite authors, Professor Antal E. Fekete:
